RE/MAX Honolulu
Founded in 1973 in Denver, Colorado, RE/MAX (short for "Real Estate Maximums") has grown in 33 years from one storefront to over 6,500 offices in 63 countries and territories worldwide. The sources of the success of RE/MAX have been well-documented in a book published in late 2004 that carries the title "Everybody Wins: The Story and Lessons Behind RE/MAX." In this book, a compelling account of the history of the RE/MAX concept and organization is juxtaposed to significant business lessons on how to continually grow a successful organization through 384+ straight months, six presidencies, and four major recessions.
RE/MAX essentially started from an idea that Dave Liniger, an enterprising young real estate broker in Denver, conceived in combining the best that a traditional real estate company could offer as far as client service, while incorporating extremely generous commission schedules for that company’s agents, known within RE/MAX as "Sales Associates." This reward-sharing idea where "Everybody Wins," including the buyer and seller clients, the sales associate, the individual office Broker/Owner, the franchisor and the communities surrounding each office, revolutionized the real estate industry.
The recent history of RE/MAX in Hawaii dates back to December 1994, when nine original owners founded RE/MAX Honolulu, a company founded for top-producing agents by these same nine top-producing agents. Over the next several years, this philosophy attracted other like-minded real estate agent/entrepreneurs, and by the end of 1997, RE/MAX Honolulu attained the third-highest sales volume of any company in the Oahu market, according to the Honolulu Board of REALTORSÆ MLS statistics. Historically, RE/MAX agents tend to be more productive and hold more experience than the average real estate professional, with the current RE/MAX Honolulu associate averaging nearly 11 years of real estate experience. Advanced designations and significant continuing education are also heavily encouraged within the organization, with over four hours of daily programming available in an associate’s home or within RE/MAX Honolulu’s two offices on the proprietary RE/MAX Satellite Network.
Now having grown to nearly seventy-five associates in both its Kapiolani Boulevard original office and a second office opened in 2006 at Kapolei Parkway Shops, RE/MAX Honolulu looks to continue its growth in adhering to the reward-sharing concept that founded RE/MAX, which can be summarized in the five following components:
High-quality, Experienced Sales Associates
Satisfied, often Repeat Customers
Significant Market Share
Strong Brand-Name Awareness
Consistent Community Presence
RE/MAX Honolulu’s commitment to community citizenship is illustrated in its support since inception of the Childrens Miracle Network at Kapiolani Medical Center for Women and Children, as well as annual sponsorship since 2003 of the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. Additional community participation and sponsor relationships include the local RE/MAX World Long Drive Championship qualifiers and West Oahu Little League.
