Living in Waikiki
The neighborhood is located at the base of Diamond Head, near the Waikiki Aquarium, across from Kapiolani Park, on the beautiful Pacific Ocean, and within walking distance of Waikiki and its attractions.
The Gold Coast consists of 16 residential condominiums and cooperatives built in the late '50s and '60s. ( Just over 900 units in all.) Many of the buildings have Kapiolani Park as a front yard, and all of the buildings have the Pacific Ocean as a back yard. The buildings are older and many are in need of repair and renovation but when you see the spectacular ocean views from the majority of these condominiums you will understand the appeal of this place. Parking is always at a premium in this neighborhood and parking stalls are worth their weight in gold.
The Elks Club and the world famous Dukes Outrigger Canoe Club is tucked right in with the other waterfront condominiums and several outstanding restaurants are hidden within the Gold Coast as well.
This area is much quieter than the much more tourest filled Waikiki Beach area.
There are also a multitude of recreational & entertainment offerings in the recently renovated Queen Kapiolani Park, located along the Honolulu Gold Coast that includes, tennis, training circuit, jogging, free concerts in the new Kapiolani Park Bandstand, as well as regular starlight performances at the Waikiki Shell. Also with-in a short walking distance from the Honolulu Gold Coast are several places that are great to visit, The Honolulu Zoo and The Waikiki Aquarium are located just a short stroll away along the sandy coastline on one side and the park on the other for your enjoyment. In fact, all of Waikiki, also near-by, has recently undergone a massive facelift & is now ready for all to enjoy!
